Working Intuitively
54Whats it all about
Aspects of an Intuitive Therapy encounter have been described in many ways including - connecting with the whole person; deep acceptance of the client; feeling involved and focussed; feeling energised, excited and stimulated; deeply meaningful, profound. When client and therapist have connected at this deep level, they feel valued and supported.
This therapy can be very rewarding for the client and the therapist as it moves people quickly forward in understanding their issues, except where abuse of any kind is the focus of the work, were pace and control has to be at the forefront of the client’s control. But even in these cases the trust between the client and the therapist builds quickly which enables the therapeutic bond to be more secure quicker and be more consistent.
All therapists will have experienced this concept in their work, some will have used it and some will have withdrawn from this deeper connection, dependant on there comfort zone or theoretical stance.
You will all have experienced these intuitive feelings differently, which is why it is beneficial to come on to a training course with other people, so you can increase self-awareness in discussion with others.
The challenging aspect of utilising this therapy is that in order for you to connect at this level with the client you also have to reach out making both of you vulnerable, this is a very levelling experience, which is why it reduces the boundaries between you and the client and builds up the much needed therapeutic bond for respect and trust to be shared. In this vulnerable world it is ok to feel their pain and is indeed the reason why this therapy works, for by understanding their fears you also understand their pain
Come and join this new and fascinating way of working with others and be fully connected to them.
